Qualified Experts

A qualified expert is a person registered by the competent authority in the register of qualified experts for a designated category or categories of buildings.

A qualified expert prepares building energy performance calculations in accordance with the building energy performance methodology with a view to issuing a building energy performance certificate and recommendations.

The qualifications that a person must have in order to be eleigible for registration on the register of qualified experts are laid down in Regulation 10 of the 2009 and 2014 Regulations on Energy Performance of Buildings (Energy Certification of Buildings).

Applications for registration on the register of qualified experts are submitted electronically via the Energy Certification of Buildings internet system.
